Better insulation and energy-efficient appliances are some of the fastest, most cost-effective ways to make your home and business more comfortable when it’s too hot, too cold or the power goes out. These improvements cut energy bills immediately, while reducing air pollution, improving public health, and creating local jobs that AI will never replace. Add renewable energy to the mix, and your power becomes more reliable and more affordable over time.
Similarly, electrifying our transportation, lawn mowers, food truck generators and other equipment brings immediate benefits: quieter neighborhoods, cleaner air, and financial savings in the long run.
The Washoe Sustainability Fund invites investments and proposals to invest in the following solutions:
- Financial incentives to help people afford the upfront cost of e-scooters, e-bikes, e-lawn mowers and leaf blowers, and battery systems to replace diesel generators on food trucks.
- Training and support for Do-It-Yourself building energy audits and upgrades. Whether you own or rent, this program will help you learn where your home or business is wasting energy, and what you can do right now to cut pollution and keep more while saving money on our energy bills.
- Help us launch this proposal for a DIY Home Energy Educator.
